Ahead of the Supreme court judgement scheduled for Tuesday, 16th January 2024, In a plea to the judges of the Supreme Court, the Advocate Women for Justice (AWJ), a women’s group in Nasarawa State, has fervently appealed for an unbiased judgment in the governorship dispute at the Supreme court.
Mrs. Hanatu John on Monday at the party Secretariat on jos road while speaking to journalist emphasized the importance of resisting external pressures, stating, “We are appealing to judges not to succumb to pressure by anybody because doing so will destroy the name and reputation you people build for yourselves over the years.”
The group commended the recent courageous judgments in Kano and Plateau states, expressing hope for a similar principled decision in Nasarawa State.
Jemilatu Hussaini also highlighted the judiciary’s role as the last hope for the common man, urging the court to consider popular votes and review BVAS records in areas where rigging was alleged during the March 18 election.
Charity Samuel, trusting in justice prevailing, stated, “I trust that the judges would ensure justice for the people of Nasarawa State so that peace, unity, and development would return to the state.”
The dispute revolves around Mr. David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the victory of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 governorship election. The women’s group continues its peaceful protests, advocating for a fair and just resolution.
